The dark girl opened the book and looked at me with deliberate meaning, not a look of regret, but a look of interest on her face, as if she desired my reaction.
Dark tendons of smoke swirled from between the pages, spiraling and dancing up towards the darkened ceiling and disappearing into the blackness of the room.
At that moment, my heart stopped. I knew that what had just been unleashed would surly not leave me unchanged, and would surly spell out my certain doom...
